"I remember feeling lost when I started to get into the business side of music. For that matter, I felt lost in regards to how to build a business in general. There are many aspects to taking an idea and turning it into a reality. It wasn't only who to ask but also knowing what to ask. It took a lot of trial and error and personal development before I felt confident about what I was doing. And even when I was confident I was on the right path it didn't mean I understood how to make money at it, let alone recognize my true value and monetize it. It was thanks to finding mentors that I was able to make each step count and turn my passion into a sustainable career.
It is hard to be a creative and turn your creativity into an income, to take a dream and turn it into a reality. Most people never do. It is equally as hard to find people that are willing to help you along the way. I get asked to "help" people, to help improve their personal situation, to manage them, to book them a tour, to place their music in TV and Film, and an array of other types of help. In most cases there are no funds available to cover my time or to take a percentage from. Those are just the facts. Like everyone else I need to be sensitive to my own needs and what I put my time into. There always needs to be a fair exchange of value when you ask for something and a lot of people don't see that. They ask without giving. In order to build a team or develop a partnership with somebody you need to establish the value you bring to the table. A mentor can guide you in the right direction, help you develop your value, show you how to reach a new level of personal success. When you have identified and established your value you become a magnet and people will come to you.
I have asked friends, experts I respect and also the general public to offer themselves and their expertise to those looking for mentors. What each mentor is willing to do and give is entirely up to them. Play it Loud Music will act as a filter to make sure the right people are paired. We make the appropriate introductions and let you take it from there.
